Amulets from Wat Phra That Phanom 帕弄佛塔千年古寺
Wat Phra Thart Phanom is a temple where the Phra Thart pagoda, a brick structure which houses a piece of bone from the chest of the Lord Buddha, is located. The pagoda itself was built more than 2,300 years ago by Phra Maha Gasapa and 500 other arahant, or Perfected Ones, with the help of rulers of several Kingdoms such as Phya Nantasane, Phya Chulaneebhramathat, Phya Indrapatanakhon and Phya Kumdaeng. There are also numerous priceless items kept inside the pagoda.
Phra Thart Phanom is regarded as very important and highly sacred by the Thai and Laotian Buddhists who live on both sides of the Khong River. An annual celebration to pay homage to the pagoda is held in the third month of the Thai lunar calendar. Also, in the eleventh lunar month there is a ceremony in which virgin women of the seven local ethnic tribes perform a dance to ask for blessings.
Considered a royal temple, Wat Phra Thart Phanom Voramahaviharn is located on the state Highway number 212, approximately 54 kilometers from the city.
